INGREDIENTS
3 lb. chicken wings
1/2 c. orange juice
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1/2 tsp. chili powder
kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 c. Sunkist soda
1/2 c. hot sauce, such as Cholula or Frank’s
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. pareve margarine
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp. orange zest
1 tsp. red pepper flakes
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- In a large bowl, combine wings with orange juice, oil and chili powder and season with salt and pepper. Using tongs, toss to combine. Place onto a large baking sheet fitted with a cooling rack in a single layer. Roast 30-45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the wings are golden and crisp.
- In a small sauce pan, combine soda, hot sauce, sugar, butter, garlic, orange zest and red pepper flakes. Season with salt and bring to a boil, whisking until all ingredients are fully combined. Bring to a simmer and let reduce by half, stirring occasionally, about 20 minutes.
- In a large clean bowl toss wings in sauce. Garnish with chives and serve.
