APE SNOT AND OTHER CANDIES

We were hot and thirsty as we wandered the streets of a small town in Holland. We stopped in a corner store and bought some bottled water. All of a sudden, out of the corner of our eye we spotted a candy bag with a somewhat weird name on it. The candy was called Ape Snot. No fooling, Ape Snot.

The bag had a picture of an ape on it. The ape was picking his nose. The candies in the bag were of indistinct shape. Needless to say, the candy had no kosher mark on it. Equally needless to say, we bought a few bags any way just to bring home and show our friends. Sort of a guaranteed laugh maker, if you will.

Once home we got to thinking- what other weird candies are out there?
Over the years, we have compiled a list of names of some truly odd ball candies. The names listed here are not our entire list. Nope. A whole lot of the candies have names that we can’t print in a family friendly blog! (Note- these are not kosher candies. We just like the names.)

Check out these names:

Nestle Carlos V

Appolo Lakkris (Iceland) (simple licorice)

Vingummi Spunk (Spain) (gummies)

Ape Snotten (Holland)

Yorkie Bar- IT’S NOT FOR GIRLS (a most obnoxious name for a choc. bar)

Seitenbacher- Vampires Lunch candy (vegan gummies from Germany)

She-Gels (condensed milk and durian pulp- Cambodia)

Strawberry Crunky (Japan) (strawberry/choc bar)

Nestle Green Tea Kit Kat (Japan) (nestle kit kats are not kosher-boo)

Nietzsche’s Will to Power Bar (USA) (sort of scary if you ask us)
