ALL SORTS OF WACKY FRUITS

Lately, our fruit lady has been stocking all manner of exotica. When she neglects to label each type of fruit, we stand there rubbing our head wondering what each piece is. Here’s some of what we’ve seen:

SAPOTE This one comes from Mexico. It is about the size of a grapefruit with orange flesh. It is soft, creamy and juicy. The flavor is sort of redolent of coconut, vanilla and lemon.

ACAI This one comes from the Amazon. It grows on a palm type tree. It is about the size of a blueberry. It tastes like a blend of blueberry and chocolate.

NONI This fruit grows in Southeast Asia. The fruit is oval shaped, has seeds, and it turns almost white when it is ripe.

GOKI BERRY It is also known as the wolfberry. It grows in Tibet and in the Himalayas. It is a cross between a cherry and a cranberry. It sort of looks like a raisin and has a slight tomato taste to it.

Stay tuned for more…………………….
