ORAH GIFTS- JERUSALEM

When our kids were small, they used to complain that their father took way too long to leave the room after kiddush. They used to do their own vaudeville versions of daddy the rabbi leaving the kiddush.

Nowadays, they make fun of the way we are so well known along the Midrochov in Jerusalem. We once took daughter Tali with us to the midrochov and after we had spent about an hour and had not yet even gone hafway, she complained, “What is this- a replay of shabbat kiddush in shul?”

Each store into which we went greeted us as if we were visiting royalty. At one store, they would not let Tali leave until she enjoyed a cup of tea and some bisquits. That one is at the top of her complaint list- “Don’t go on the Midrochov with my father; you will never get out and they make you drink tea!”

Well, she is right. We do have our favorites there…..

One store we love to visit is ORAH GIFTS.This small store seems to have just about everything and anything you could want! In addition, one of the most beautiful young ladies we have ever met works there. Shiri is strikingly gorgeous- she actually glows with pleasure as she serves customers. She is gregarious and outgoing and very helpful. We fell in love with Shiri the very first time we met her a few years ago. If only she were 25 years older!!! Tant pis!

Shiri is a religious girl with a very modern bent, and chatting with her is always a thrill. She is also a school teacher. But mostly it is her skill at finding whatever you want in the small store that sets her apart. Plus as a yeshiva lady, she knows her stuff!

The store is great, Shiri makes it excellent. She will plotz when she reads this, but the truth is, we always look forward to seeing her and buying in the store.

When you go there, tell her hello from us!
