FROM THE STAR LEDGER
Sublime Imports in Dallas, Texas, may only be a small, two-man importer, but that isn’t stopping them from bringing in beer from the other side of the world.
Concentrating mostly on Mediterranean breweries, Sublime has recently brought one of Israel’s first craft breweries to the shores of New Jersey. Malka, or “Queen” in Hebrew, is located in the Western Galilee, Israel, and yes, it’s kosher. And thanks to Sublime’s partnership with Hunterdon Brewing, one of New Jersey’s great craft beer distributors, three of Malka’s beers are now available in New Jersey.
Malta Blonde Ale: Brewed with unique hops and orange peel, this 6.50% ABV Belgian Blonde Ale has a crisp malt sweetness with fruity tones and a citric finish.
Malka Pale Ale: A classic English Pale Ale, Malka’s 5.50% ABV Pale Ale is a balanced beer with a nutty body and a hop-forward finish.
Malta Dry Stout: At 6.00% ABV, this English Dry Stout has tastes of roasted malts, espresso, chocolate and toffee. The full body and low carbonation make for a creamy mouthfeel and a dry finish.
Malka is located at the foot of the 12th century Montfort caste in the Western Galilee town of Yehiam. While Malka’s small batch beers are mostly based on traditional Belgian, German, and English styles, each beer is made with an Israeli twist, using natural water from the Ga’aton Springs along with local Israeli flavors.
