There will be an incredible shortage of wild blueberries this year. That is not due to nature but rather to excessive demand for what can now be seriously called “Maine’s Blue Caviar.”

The wild blueberry crop is never huge enough, but this year advance demand is so high, the crop will not be sufficient. In addition, regular blueberries will also be in shorter supply this year due to extraordinary demand.

As a result, of course, prices will go higher and higher. How high will prices go? No one knows for sure, but our friend in the berry business says prices are rising by the day!

Our suggestion? Buy early, buy often, and freeze those little blue suckers!
