Tix for this one are real cheap: Two bucks, yup, one dolla for each walla! You gotta love a festival that features onion eating contests, lawn bowling with onions and much more. Just don’t tell our mom- in our family home, playing with your food was a big no-no!

JULY 28 JACKIE KENNEDY BIRTHDAY
Nope, we list her not for her cooking ability, but for bringing good food to the White House and then on to the rest of America. Julia Child long credited Jackie for introducing French cuisine to America.

JULY 29-31 THE GILROY (Calif) GARLIC FESTIVAL
Just don’t stand too close to the next person! More than 70 million pounds of garlic came from that town last year. The festival features fried garlic pickles, garlic ice cream, garlic flavored chocolate (Lord forgive them- they know not what they do) and fried garlic laced balogna. Umm. Well. We really could do without most of the stuff they feature, but the idea sure is intriguing.
