400 NEW ITEMS FOR PESACH!

NEW YORK — Nearly 400 new items will appear on grocery shelves this Passover (eve of March 25th), according to an annual KosherToday review of new Kosher for Passover foods. Gluten-Free is once again leading the way as many of the Passover items introduced in the past two years remained on shelves year round. This year’s selection includes Gluten-Free Yehuda Crackers (available in Plain and Cracked Pepper), Yehuda Gluten-Free Matzo Style Meal and Farfel, Yehuda Gluten-Free Fiber Enriched Matzo Style Squares, all distributed by Kedem.

Other gluten-free items include Blanchard and Blanchard Whole Wheat Matzo Sticks, a Whole Wheat variety of Holyland Hand Made Shmura. Manischewitz Gluten-Free Matzo Style Squares and Gluten-Free Crackers, Streit’s Gluten-Free Matzo Ball Mix, Gluten-Free Matzo Ball & Soup Mix and Gluten Free Israeli Couscous.

This year’s list also includes many new sauces, condiments and oils; Manischewitz’s Almond Butter (an alternative to peanut butter); Premium Dark Chocolate Syrup from Fox’s U-Bet; Fruit of The Land Tishbi Wine & Fruit Preserves (Cherry Shiraz Preserve, Fig Cabernet, Strawberry Champagne, Apricot Riesling, Mango Chardonnay, Passion Fruit Champagne, Sangria, Wild Berry Merlot, Cabernet Jelly, Merlot Wine Jelly, Riesling Wine Jelly, and Chardonnay Wine Jelly); and Benz’s ketchup.

New additions for breakfast and desserts include Jennies Macaroons gourmet line of chocolate-covered and chocolate-drizzle macaroons (gluten-free and available in Pareve or dairy); Manischewitz Frozen Macaroon Dough (makes 44 macaroons); Manischewitz Red Velvet Macaroons (Gluten-Free and pareve); Manischewitz Biscotti in chocolate Walnut and Cranberry Pistachio; Reisman’s Chocolate Coconut and Chocolate Dipped Coconut Macaroons; Manischewitz Dark Chocolate Covered Potato Chips and Milk Chocolate Almond Butter Cups; Blanchard and Blanchard’s two varieties of Granola Cereal (a line extension to Chef Jeff Nathan’s line of Gluten Free Panko Flakes Seasoned); Osem USA’s Homestyle Passover Roll Mix and Passover Pancake Mix (gluten-free); Nescafe Instant Coffee (available in 7oz jars and 1.7oz jars).

In the meat and fish category, some of the new items include Benz’s gefilte fish ( low cholesterol and no sugar and the Twin Pack & Low Cholesterol); Benz’s jarred gefilte fish/Hungarian style (all gluten-free); Alle Processing’s Meal Mart heat and serve Chicken Soup, Stuffed Cabbage, Beef Stew, Roast Lamb and Roast Brisket.

In the sweets department for both adults and kids are a number of new products for Pesach noshers: Manischewitz’s Magic Max Chocolate Chip Cookie Cereal (gluten-free); Guiltless Gourmet (Manischewitz) Flaxseed Crunch Bars in two flavors (Almond Cranberry Flaxseed Crunch Bar and Cashew Cranberry Flaxseed Crunch Bar -Vegan and Gluten-Free) Guiltless Gourmet Exotic Root Vegetable Chips; Yohay Baking pareve Chocolate Fudge (also made in dairy); Guiltless Gourmet Coconut Water; For its snack line, Osem USA’s large bags of Bamba and Bissli snacks; Streit’s Chocolate Covered Raisins, Chocolate Covered Almonds, Chocolate Covered Hazelnuts, Chocolate Covered Cranberries and Mini Fruit Slice candies.

In addition to foods, many new novelty items will be on sale in time for the holiday. Davida Apron’s Matzah Dipping Bowl and a Matzah Timer; Rite Lite Placemats (easy to clean vinyl); Rite Lite Passover Gift Set, which includes a Pot Holder and 2 Fingertip Towels in matching Matzah theme. When a simpler Seder Plate is inappropriate, there is the Laminated and Melamine Seder Plates; The Bubby Cookbook, (cookbook with classic Passover recipes).
