We got an email today from one of our favorite wine purveyors, and it listed probably one of the most expensive kosher wines we have ever seen! What could make a bottle of kosher wine so expensive, we wondered. Well, we will just have to take their word for it. It is definitely out of our range this month.
Chateau Leoville Poyferre Saint Julien 2000
Wine Spectator rated this a 94. “Superb. Vivid, with lovely aromas of berries, minerals, toasted oak and leather. Full – bodied, with extremely well – integrated tannins and a long finish. A wine to remember. Finest ever from this estate. Best after 2010.”
$159.99
Hmmm, let’s see: the wine costs almost $160. You have to wait four more years before you imbibe. That averages out to a mere $40 per year. Hey, at that price, it’s a bargain!
