In the same place where once stood the mighty Norman’s Steak House, now stands a whole new experience. The new owners opted for a whole new look and modified the place to look like an Italian plaza. The food is dairy.
The restaurant is packed all day long, so reservations are a must if you want to be seated. There are outside sections and three inside sections. Table turnover is a constant, yet no one rushes you and you are free to sit and talk after your meal. However, once you stand up, that table is filled literally in seconds.
Luciana serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu is a full fare Italian menu featuring mostly Southern Italian dishes (makes sense for a dairy restaurant!)
We were a small group of three. We all started with the cold tomato soup. The soup comes with two break sticks and a glob of cheese in the bowl. The soup itself is wonderful! A touch of oil in the soup gives it a little umph. The taste was incredible. Had we not ordered dinner we could have just ordered more soup!
Two of us had Denis fish for dinner- one fillet and one whole. Both plates looked very good and were artistically produced. The other person had a Buffalo Mozzeralla personal pizza.
The fish was incredibly fresh and very tasty. The pizza was perfect. Our question is why is it that the only place you can get a kosher pizza with mozzeralla cheese is in Israel? The pizza was perfect!
We ordered glasses of water with “lots of ice.” Guess what? Apparently Luciana has the recipe that no one else in Israel has. We got lots of ice- hooray!!
Dinner was quite wonderful For three, the cost came to just under NIS 350-not bad at all!
The food was great, the atmosphere was wonderful and the place is, apparently, THE place to go.
Luciana is located at 27 Emek Refaim St. 02 563 0111
