- 3 cups matzah farfel
- 2 cups milk
- 1 1/2 cups sour cream
- 8 ounces/2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded, plus extra for the top of the casserole)
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
- 3 large eggs (beaten)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Butter a 2-quart casserole or baking dish.
In a large bowl, mix the matzo farfel, milk, sour cream, cheese, melted butter, eggs, salt, and pepper.
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
Cover with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
Uncover an bake for 20 to 25 minutes longer, or until the casserole is set and golden. If desired, sprinkle the top of the casserole with additional cheese during the last 5 to 10 minutes of baking.
