Sesame Crusted Chicken

What You’ll Need

  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup Italian-seasoned bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 (4-ounce) boneless, skinless chicken breasts, pounded to 1/2-inch thickness
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil

What to Do

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk egg and water until well combined. In another shallow dish, combine bread crumbs, sesame seeds, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper; mix well.
  2. Dip chicken into egg mixture, then the bread crumb mixture, coating evenly with each.
  3. In a large skillet, over medium heat, heat oil until hot. Sauté chicken 4 to 5 minutes per side or until no pink remains.

Test Kitchen Tip

  • Fun Fact!
    • The sesame seed was the first recorded seasoning, dating back to 3000 BC? Its slightly sweet, nutty flavor is still popular today as it flavors and fancies up loads of dishes.
