MUFFIN BOUTIQUE

Located on the upper Ben Yehuda pedestrian mall, this place rapidly earned a name for itself.

We admit, the muffins are extraordinary. They come in many different flavors. They are decently sized. They are delish!

What we do not get is the fact that all over FaceBook on the local Jerusalem pages, when people ask where to buy a good bagel, Muffin Boutique is usually one of the first two listed.

We supervised a bagel bakery in NYC for over 30 years. It is fair to say, we know what a real NYC bagel tastes like- shiny and crusty on the outside, and soft on the inside. These bagels are neither. By the way, the bagels of the other often listed place are not any better.

We find it ironic that in the Jewish homeland, a decent bagel is almost impossible to find. Frankly, when we visit the States, we always bring some back with us.
