BLINTZ BOMBE

WE POSTED THIS IN MAY, 2006. GUESS WHAT? WE’RE POSTING IT AGAIN!!

DA BLINTZ BOMBE aka BLINTZ SOUFFLE

Our Mom used to serve her world famous blintz bomb whenever we got on her nerves. We were six kids and when we all were at the table, things could be very hectic. To this day, we each have telescopic arm capability because that was the only way we could make sure that we each got what we wanted before anyone else.

Anyway, we would swear that her blintz souffle was an efficient killer. We used to tell her that we could hear our arteries clogging up as we ate it.

At a fleishiq meal, it was the chicken schmaltz and/or the gribenes that would no doubt kill us. At a dairy meal, it was the blintz souffle. We used to call it the bomb. Later on we added the ā€œeā€ because that seemed to elevate the experience.

Here is a recipe we got from Golden brand blintzes:
Blintz Souffle Recipe

1 package (13 oz.) Golden Brand frozen blintzes (cheese or fruit)
3 eggs
1 cup sour cream
2 TBS butter (melted)
2 TBS orange juice
1 tsp. vanilla
2 TBS sugar

Grease an appropriate size deep baking pan. Place a package of Golden
Brands frozen blintzes on bottom of pan. Put rest of ingredients in blender
and blend until creamy. Pour over blintzes. Bake 375 degrees F for 15
minutes then reduce heat to 350 F for 35 to 45 minutes, or until puffy and
brown.
