Kiryas Joel Meat Company Sued By The US Department Of Labor For “Willfully And Repeatedly” Violating Minimum Wage And Overtime Laws
The US Department of Labor has filed a complaint against a Kiryas Joel company for violating minimum wage and overtime laws, the Times Herald-Record reports. Hatzlucha Meat Market, Inc. also failed to keep records of employees’ hours, their rates of pay and their earnings.
The US Department of Labor found that Hatzlucha “willfully and repeatedly” violated labor laws, that Hatzlucha’s company records do not accurately reflect “the hours worked each workday, the total hours worked each work week, the regular rate of pay, the total earnings for each work week, and/or the total compensation for each work week with respect to many of their employees,” according to the lawsuit, which was filed Monday in Federal Court in White Plains, New York.
The US Department of Labor wants the court to find Hatzlucha and its officers Abraham Schlesinger and Yitzchok Tyrnauer liable for the unpaid compensation.
