GOTHAM BURGER IN TEANECK, NJ

What can we say? Wowzers! Fantastic! Primo! Benissimo! Located at 1383 Queen Anne Road, Teaneck, NJ, this RCBC certified restaurant serves really good food. It is not fast food, but it is fine food!

Two of us had a business lunch meeting there recently and we were amazed at just how good everything was. Prices are moderate and fair for kosher food.

We ordered a plate of Gotham Wings. They were crsip, cooked perfectly and coated with an amazing home made sauce that was to die for. We both tried to eat them politely with a fork and knife. We both gave up and instead proved the wings were finger licking good. The coating was a little bit spicy (after all, they cater to Jews) but not very spicy, with a great back door. Holy cow- to mix metaphors- the wings were great.

One of us had the Gotham burger done to a perfect Medium, along with fries, soda and lentil/sausage soup. First a word about the fries: they were perfect- crispy, served hot, and soft on the inside. NOT SOGGY! It seems they are the only place left that knows how to make perfect fries. At most places, we ignore the fries- they are that bad. Our business compatriot said the burger was quite tasty and that the meat was excellent. He also said the soup was a perfect soup for a wet, snowy day. We should mention that our lunch partner is a caterer, so his praise was high praise indeed.

We had the chicken fingers. These are long, narrow strips of chicken breast covered with a seasoned, crispy coating. The fingers were quite delish. We also tried a number of their dipping sauces and found all of them quite tasty. Once again, served hot and crispy, the fingers were taam gan eden.

The menu is complete for a burger joint- Beef Sliders, Soups, Chili, Burgers, Turkey Burgers, Veggie Burgers, Hot Dogs, Chili Dogs, Grilled Chicken sandwich, Steak sandwich and Fried Chicken. The usual sides: onion rings, fries. garlic mashed potatoes, sauteed garlic green beans, and, of course, the kiddi menu. There are salads and all day combo meals, lunch specials and desserts.

Will we go back? Damn straight we will! This is not a fancy place, but it is a place to get some down home food. Everything is cooked to order. Bread for motzi is provided in covered containers near the natlan (washing cup). Bathrooms are spotless.

All in all, a big time winner! We salute you, Gotham Burger!
