We wrote about Matzel Toff before Pesach and it seemed likely to be a winner. So, we bought a box. We bought a box that said Toffee Chocolate Matzah Treats, and was marked Kosher for Passover, Pareve Chocolate. The certification is Kof-K, Pareve.
We did not look at the contents marking. We did not look at the price. We saw it and we bought it.
First the good news: It is a Kosher Nexus Five Fork winner! What a great snack. Tasty as all get out. Crunchy in the way you crave. Rich and chocolately. All together, an incredible snack. No two ways about it.
Now the bad news: The contents are two small bars of snack. Each bar is somewhat less than a half board of full size matzah. So for your money, you get about one matzah’s piece worth of snack.
The worse news: When we got home, we looked at the price and almost fainted. We paid $8.50 for 7 ounces of product. At that rate, a pound would have been $17, and it’s not even shmura matzah. We get it- the chocolate and the toffee are heavy. But the price is way too high. Had we bothered to look at the price up front, we would not have bought it. That would have been too bad, as it is incredible. But, then again, we do not believe it was worth spending that kind of money.
Was it money thrown out? Absolutely not! Was it money unwisely spent? Totally!
