THE WILLING BLIND

On Tuesday of this week, we were in attendance for the New York City Police Department’s annual pre-Rosh Hashanah briefing. Hundreds of Jews attend- mostly to glom down the free and very tasty kosher bagels, spreads and pastries, including chocolate ruggies to die for.

Prior to the start of the festivities, a major source of good info in the Kosher world cornered us and ranted about how we have to come together to protect Agriprocessors. He claims that the whole thing is a thinly veiled attack against kashruth itself, and shechita in particular. He of course mentioned the geniuses of PETA and the verbal diarrhea they spout.

We were stunned. How can anyone be so blind? We mentioned some of the many violations that have been found there, and his response was that it is an attack by the union. Yes, the union has been disgraceful in their tactics, as well as dishonest and gangsterish. But that does not change the fact that on the ground, there are just too many violations there.

Come on! Wake up! Smell the coffee! Read the Failed Messiah blog! Get with the program! It is chodesh Elul- time to repair relationships, not time to ignore the truth.
