STEAKIAT TZIDKIYAHU REDUX

Long time readers know that we have our favorite places to eat in Jerusalem, and that we visit them over and over again. On Monday night, we went to our fave steakia for their usual groaning table of delights.

First off, miracle of miracles- it is now against the law to smoke in restaurants in Israel!! Hip, hip hooray! What a huge difference that makes, and how wonderfully welcome that is.

Second, we are happy to say: some things just do not change. The amount of side dishes placed on our table all throughout our meal was nothing short of incredible. And, of course, we three ate it all! Pickles, beets, pickled veggies, pickled cabbage, regular salad, Israeli salad, tomato salsa, french fries, hummus, techina, babbaganoush, felafel, schug, amba, three different kinds of slaws, egg plant, egg plant of another kind, and yet another kind of egg plant. To top it all off, we had fresh from the oven bread for dipping.

For dinner we each had different kabobs. We had ground chicken kabobs, beef kabobs and pargiyot kabobs. For your dinner, you get two huge skewers of kabob. Table service was attentive but not hovering. Replacement dishes were served quickly and efficiently.

All in all, we had a great dinner. They did not rush us, nor did they seem to be in any hurry to bring us the bill. Oh yes, the bill. The three of us ate for less than $50. How can you hate it?

The restaurant is located in Talpiyot on Yad Charutz street. The meat is mehadrin. The taste is definitely a Kosher Nexus Five Forks award winner!
