We entered a bakery in downtown Philly the other day. Big sign on the front of the bakery- KOSHER BAKERY. We asked one of the two ladies behind the counter if the bakery was still kosher. One person said, “I don’t know- what does kosher mean?”
What was truly odd was the fact that the other person behind the counter was the owner of the little bakery. You would think that somewhere along the line she might have explained to her employee that it was a kosher bakery, what kosher means, and the difference between pareve and dairy cakes (which the lady also did not know).
How do you run a kosher place and not educate your employee? Is it us or is that just a tad nuts????
