Ok, this is not a weather report. Nope. This is a wake up call. This week, we celebrate (??) Tu B’Av- the fifteenth of Av. And that means Rosh Chodesh Elul is only two weeks away. And that means Rosh Hashanah is almost upon us! Yikes, where did the summer go?
The point of all of this is to remind you to clear your freezer of any left over Passover stuff. Eat up the detritus of shabbes meals lurking in the darkest recesses of your freezer compartment. Throw out the alien life form cocooning behind the frozen brocoli.
Why? After all, what’s the big deal?
The big deal is this: In just a couple of weeks, the stores will begin to raise their beef prices in anticipation of Rosh Hashanah. Buy that big roast now and put it away in the freezer. Hey, who knows? You could save a whole lot of moolah if you buy now before the inevitable pre yom tov price increase. Buy your brisket before they announce that there is a shortage and before the price per pound rises from astronomical to obscene.
Got the picture? We shop early every year, and we are always glad we did. You will be, too.
