COUSCOUS AND WINE FOR PESACH

March 15, 2004 at 2:02:12p.m.

Yes, it’s true boys and girls- the very first couscous that is certified kosher for Passover (by the OU) will be available from Savion (HKS Marketing) this year. There are three flavors: Plain, Chicken Flavor and Garlic seasoned. All three are Pareve. My kids haven’t stopped singing since we brought some home. Their comment? “Finally, real food for Passover.”

Royal Wine (another part of HKS better known as Kedem Wine) will be offering a 2003 Backsberg Pinotage this year for Passover. This is the very first time that this fine South African wine will be available for Passover. Certification is by both the OU and the Cape Town Beth Din. The wine is a hybrid of Pinot Noir and Cinsault grapes. A complex wine, it will give you one more thing to discuss at your seder.
