BANDORA SCHWARMA IS NOW IN JERUSALEM

We wrote about this place back in Dec, 2015, before it opened in Jerusalem. Recently we were there, and it was great.

The trick here is that the schwarma is horizontally on a spit above a wood fire. The flavor of the smoke permeates the meat, and it is most delish!!

The menu is fairly limited, because the raison d’etre of the place is schwarma, schwarma, and more schwarma.

Seating is either outside in the sun or upstairs in a very plain room with little to recommend it. Although we were there in early March, the temps were in the 70’s, and it was a glorious day for eating outside and people watching. The restaurant is at 36 Yafo St, alongside the light rail tracks as they run through center city.

Condiments (pickles, onions, lettuce, salad, chummus, pickled veggies, etc) are all self serve. There are also several kinds of side dishes: eggplant, crisps, BBQ veggies, and much more.

We were two people. We each had the large schwarma- mostly large due to content and not size. We each had several of the side dishes. We each had lots of toppings to put into our laffa.

Two schwarmas and two soft drinks came to just about $25. It was well worth it, and we would go again.
