Of all the wonderful things about being in Israel, perhaps there is one thing that is often overlooked. The veggies and fruits here are amazing. Walk in Machane Yehuda and you see mountains of veggies in a riot of colors. Fruits here cry out as you pass by: come and eat me, come and eat me!

We have a small fruit store across the street from our apartment. We go there everyday for our snacks! Yesterday we snacked on sliced cantaloupe- ice cold and sweet as can be- and some cut up sweet red peppers. Later in the day, we bought a container of grapes. First time we ever ate grapes while holding on to a napkin!

Israel is not only the land of milk and honey. It is clearly the land of honest to goodness great fruit and veggies.
