OU ON PREPARED BABY FOODS FOR PESACH

From the OU:

1. Gerber Baby Food in all vegetable varieties except for the sweet potatoes are acceptable for Passover l’chatchila when bearing the OU.

2.Currently, Beechnut has discontinued its Kosher for Pesach supervision, and the Mashgiach no longer oversees the kosherization process. In addition, ascorbic acid, which may be chometz, is added to the fruit. Nonetheless, our investigation has shown that the standard cleaning procedures that are in place constitute kosherization, and the ascorbic acid is botel bishishim. Halachically, the baby food fruit and vegetables that are not combined with cereal are Kosher for Pesach. Nonetheless, since kosherization is performed without a Mashgiach, this situation is not optimal, and we recommend that you prepare your own baby food.
