L’ BELLA KOSHER ITALIAN CUISINE

Forget the bad Italian grammar and the spelling errors on the menu. This place is a delight! The tables are nicely set, if a tad too close together, the ambiance wonderful, and the food great.

Appetizers are a tad pricey ($9.99 for mozzarella sticks), but don’t worry. On your table will be a plate of crusty Italian bread served with aioli. Additionally, each diner gets a large piece of bruschetta served on a fairly sizable piece of crusty bread. The bruschetta is very fresh and very good. If you bring a bottle of kosher wine, they will uncork it for you and return the wine to you with wine glasses for each person. There is no corkage fee.

The food is very good and portions are quite large. Some time back, we had a pizza from there and it was without a doubt the best kosher pizza we have had here in Queens, NY. This time, we were three diners. We had: eggplant parmigiana served with a side of spaghetti, mushroom filled ravioli served in a vodka sauce and Farfelle Ai Funghi Misto (sic)- bowtie pasta with sauteed mushrooms, eggplant, zucchini and basil in a most delicate tomato based sauce.

The ravioli were as smooth as a cloud, and very tasty. We are not a big fan of vodka sauce, but the sauce was indeed excellent. The eggplant parm was- no two ways about it- the best we have ever tasted. It was perfect. The pasta was excellent. The sauce was, as advertised, a most delicate sauce. The veggies were very fresh and gently sauteed. The pasta was perfectly al dente- just the way we like it.

The menu features 20 pasta dishes and 25 fish dishes. Oh, and of course, because it is an Italian restaurant, they also have a full sushi menu!! There are soups and salads and 7 different pizzas.

All in all, it was a great meal enjoyed in the company of really great friends. We had a blast- the wine was a perfect addition to dinner (we brought a bottle of Merlot), the food was excellent, we sat in the enclosed window room (sort of like dining outside) and people watched while we ate, and we sat for a long time as we dallied over our meals. A perfect meal!
