ANJELICA

Located on Shatz St, off of King George, in the hotel Metropolitan, this restaurant is an amazing place to dine. The decor is quietly understated. Seating is generous with a great deal of space between tables so you can actually have a quiet conversation that remains private. Service is most attentive and anticipatory. They accomplish that without hovering, no less.
We have been there before, but the menu is a seasonal one, so it was time to go again and see the summer menu. We were not disappointed.
The meal begins with marinated a/o roasted, spiced veggies on the table along with dipping oil, aioli, bread, olives and sea salt in a salt cellar. The bread is crisp and tasty. The veggies were excellent. We are not sure of just what all of them were, but they were excellent.
We were four people. Appetizers were: corn soup (very tasty, but missing something, perhaps truffle oil), endive salad (totally excellent), egg plant baladi and kabobs, and filet mignon on a skewer. The meat was so incredibly soft and well seasoned. What a delight!
Dinners: Denis fish- excellent and cooked to perfection so it stayed moist and tasty.
Filet mignon- three large medallions cooked just as asked.
Baby lamb chops with a shoulder chop, too.
Sitna (sirloin) a very large piece served with a perfect accompanying sauce.
Each dish came with wonderful veggies- cooked al dente and served piping hot.
We shared a bottle of Cabernet- a good wine, but not a great wine. We enjoyed it none the less.
The bill for dinner with tip came to just $56 per person- not too shabby by any standards.
The food and the service there are what the restaurant is all about. It is an oasis in the midst of the whirl of Jerusalem. Frankly we can’t wait until the next time we eat there!
