EATING OUT IN JERUSALEM

So we arrived here in the midst of the snow storm on Weds of last week. Jerusalem was pretty much shut down due to the snow.

That first night, we took the kids (how do you refer to your married children?) to dinner at Cup of Joe. No one wanted a big meal- light dairy would be fine. Maybe a cup of hot soup, a sandwich and some good cafe hafooch. Alas, it was not to be. They sort of pushed us out the door saying that due to the snow, they were closing early. So it was bye bye for us-almost mid meal!

Today, Sunday, we were still craving some fine dairy foods, so we went to Belinda in the Wolfson Tower mall.

As always, it was superlative. There were three of us and we had mushroom barley soup and zucchini soup. We had really good brown, whole wheat bread, the kasha burgers and the mixed dragon bowl.

The soups were great. The mushroom barley was hearty and very thick. The zucchini soup, an experimental addition to the menu, was a tad thin, but very, very tasty. We have never had that kind of soup before so it was a neat thing to eat.

The kasha burgers were taam gan eden! They were major league tasty. The Dragon Bowl was a triumph of brown rice and woked veggies.

All in all, as is always the case at Belinda, we had superlative food and enjoyed watching the people pass by on their errands. Chef Mollie came by to say hello and as always, she had a huge smile on her face. Nothing pleases Mollie more than people who enjoy her food- so we rang the bell for her! Daughter Tali came along a bit after we did and afer we had spoken with Mollie, so she went directly into the kitchen to say hello to her. Sort of like being with family. Hmm, maybe that is part of what makes Belinda so good: they treat you like family and the food is a KN Five Fork Winner!
