FRESH DIRECT ONE CLICK RECIPES

July 31st, 2006

We got a publicity release from Fresh Direct and we thought you would appreciate the info:

FreshDirect Develops First-Ever `One-Click Recipes’ Function with Workman Publishing; New Online Technology Merges Bestselling Cookbooks with the Freshest and Fastest At-Home Grocery Delivery

LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–July 25, 2006–FreshDirect, the nation’s leading online fresh food manufacturing and delivery service, today introduces new FreshDirect One-Click Recipes, allowing customers to choose from top recipes, buy the freshest ingredients, and receive their delivery without ever leaving home. Designed as the easiest way possible to cook from scratch using the world’s most beloved cookbooks from leading publisher Workman Publishing, new FreshDirect One-Click Recipes eliminates forgotten ingredients and exhausting trips to the grocery store, and offers up recipes from some of the most trusted cookbooks ever published, in one integrated experience.

FreshDirect One-Click Recipes currently features over 400 of the best recipes compiled by Workman from 53 cookbooks, including: The Silver Palate and The New Basics both by Julee Rosso & Sheila Lukins, The Barbecue Bible by Steven Raichlen, and French Laundry and Bouchon, both by Thomas Keller, just to name a few. New recipes will be added to the site regularly, including seasonal menus and contributions from Real Simple magazine.

One-Click Recipes allows customers to search and sort using criteria such as main ingredient, level of difficulty, theme, number served, type of cuisine, cooking method, and more. When a recipe has been selected, the ingredient list easily becomes a virtual shopping list.

Ingredients that customers likely to need to purchase specifically for the recipe are ready to be added to the cart with a simple click. Items that customers may already have, such as spices or olive oil, are designated as “You May Already Have” items, and need to be manually selected before they are added to the cart. As an added convenience, if an ingredient is added to the cart for one recipe, FreshDirect’s One-Click Recipes reminds shoppers that the item was already purchased before they inadvertently add it a second time. For certain recipes, FreshDirect offers tabs to allow the customer to choose to make the recipe organic or kosher. This function will be added to all appropriate recipes over the coming months.

“One-Click Recipes is another way that FreshDirect provides a totally unique shopping experience for customers. No traditional grocer or market can offer this kind of convenience,” said Steve Michaelson, president of FreshDirect. “Our number-one goal is to continually provide our customers with the easiest ways to get a meal on the table through our delicious prepared foods, our convenient delivery service, and now through new One-Click Recipes.”

“We are very excited to be partnering with FreshDirect to offer a fun and different way for people to think about recipes, food shopping, and cooking in one place at one time,” says Katie Workman, associate publisher of Workman Publishing. “Our cookbook authors are delighted to be part of this initiative, and having so many appealing recipes available on the site makes it easy to get into the kitchen and cook. I’ve been a FreshDirect fan and customer since its inception, and personally can’t wait to click, shop, and cook from these recipes.”

Recipes are all printable for easy mealtime preparation and will instantly be sent to customers via email. Additionally, all cookbooks that the recipes have been selected from will be available for purchase on line. As always, in most areas FreshDirect orders can be delivered as soon as the next day, as long as orders are placed before 11 p.m. for weekday deliveries and by 9 p.m. for Saturday and Sunday deliveries.

EXTREMELY URGENT

July 30th, 2006

Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger has initiated a global project designed to unite approximately 1,000,000 Jews around the world to pray at the same time (19:00 Israel time on 8/1/06) (12 noon NYC time), via the internet. Rabbi Metzger has composed the special prayer for well-being and safe return of abducted soldiers Gilad Shalit, Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser. There is also prayer for the well-being of IDF soldiers and for
the recovery of those who have been wounded.

An interactive website (http://www.tfila.org.il/) ( click the right hand for hebrew, the left hand for english) has been set up, in both Hebrew and English, in which people may add their names to the project. The site includes – inter alia – the texts of the aforementioned prayers, a message from Chief Rabbi Metzger and an interactive ‘chain of hands’ graphic
with the names of those who have agreed to join the project.

COCA COLA DOES ICED TEA

July 28th, 2006

Coca Cola enters the upscale iced tea market with a new product.

We have not yet seen the product, but we did get a press release touting the new drink. We do not know if it is certified kosher or not. We phoned Coke but could not get an answer, so we figured we would post the news and wait to see the product. Here’s a helpful hint: if it is not kosher, do not buy it!

Ready-to-Drink Gold Peak(TM) Brings Back Classic Iced Tea

In Stores This Week, New Brand Innovation from Coca-Cola Evokes Timeless Pleasures of Comfort and the Flavor of Home

ATLANTA, July 25 /PRNewswire/ — Coca-Cola North America announced today the launch of Gold Peak(TM), a premium ready-to-drink (RTD) iced tea. With its fresh homemade taste, Gold Peak revives the timeless flavor of classic, authentic iced tea.

Offered in five great flavors – sweetened, unsweetened, lemon, diet and green tea – Gold Peak provides a bottled option for enthusiasts of home-style iced tea. The product will be offered nationwide in stylish 16.9-ounce single- serve glass bottles.

“Gold Peak is the modern, convenient expression of the classic drink we all know and love,” said Gloria Garrett, Coca-Cola North America Vice President, Hydration Business Unit. “We make it for those who love great iced tea, and it delivers a taste so balanced and delicious it reminds you of the best glass of tea you’ve ever had.”

Gold Peak’s unique carafe-like glass bottle bears a label featuring a tranquil lakeside scene, conjuring a time and place to be savored. The premium label together with the rich color of the product in the clear glass bottle enables Gold Peak to stand out among other teas as a sophisticated, upscale brand.

“The premium and super-premium segments of the RTD iced tea market are the fastest growing in the category,” said Garrett. “The category is ripe for a new premium brand with classic iced tea taste.”

The Gold Peak launch will be supported in 2006 with a fully integrated marketing program that includes national print and radio advertising, point- of-purchase displays, an interactive Web site, public relations and national sampling programs. Gold Peak will launch its consumer sampling program on July 29 at the well-known Bridgehampton Polo Club in the Hamptons, New York, where the brand will invite the famous and fashionable to rediscover classic iced tea taste.

Gold Peak will be available nationally in supermarkets, convenience and other retail stores.

1. Mix dry ingredients together.
2. Mix eggs and cottage cheese together.
3. Add the dry ingredients to the eggs and cheese mixture. Stir well.
4. Heat oil in a large frying pan.
5. Drop pancake mixture by spoonfuls into hot frying pan. Flip pancake when the top bubbles.
